    Evolution Furniture supported Agrabah Events with the furniture delivery, installation and de-rig for Strata's team-building event in Al Ain during 2024. Designed around a disco-inspired Indian theme, the furniture scheme combined vibrant colours, contemporary seating and hospitality furniture to create comfortable spaces for relaxation, conversation and informal group activities throughout the venue. 

    The Challenge

    The project required furniture that complemented a bold themed environment while remaining practical for an outdoor team-building programme. Rather than relying on a single furniture style, the environment needed a carefully balanced mix of colourful seating, high tables and lounge furniture that reinforced the event's visual identity while supporting guest comfort throughout the day.

    Space Planning & Guest Experience

    The furniture layout prioritised flexibility and guest interaction, creating relaxed hospitality settings that encouraged conversation and movement throughout the site. A combination of lounge seating and standing-height furniture provided a variety of environments suited to different moments within the programme while supporting the overall themed atmosphere.

    Project Outcome

    The completed furniture installation transformed the venue into a vibrant hospitality environment that reflected the event's colourful theme while providing practical, comfortable spaces for guests to relax, socialise and participate throughout the programme. 

    Project Ecosystem

    The Strata Team Building event formed part of a wider event delivery programme managed by Agrabah Events. Evolution Furniture was responsible for the hospitality furniture, delivery, installation and de-rig, creating colourful temporary hospitality environments that integrated seamlessly with the overall themed experience.

    How Many Cushions Are Too Many?

    When styling an event lounge, cushions are often one of the final details to be added.


    They introduce colour, texture and personality, helping a seating area feel warm and inviting. A few carefully chosen cushions can completely change the look of a sofa.


    Add too many, however, and they start working against the space rather than improving it.

    Like most elements of event design, balance is everything.

    Comfort Should Always Come First

    A lounge may look beautiful, but guests still need somewhere to sit.


    If half the sofa is covered with decorative cushions, people are left wondering where to put them. They often end up on the floor, stacked on another chair or moved onto a table.


    Cushions should make seating more comfortable, not create extra work for guests.

    Think About the Size of the Sofa

    Not every sofa needs the same number of cushions.


    A single lounge chair may only need one accent cushion, while a large three-seater sofa might suit three or four. Modular seating can accommodate a few more, provided they don't overcrowd the space.

    Mix Texture Rather Than Quantity

    Creating visual interest doesn't always mean adding more cushions.


    Combining velvet, boucle, linen or woven fabrics often creates a richer look than simply increasing the number. Different textures add depth while keeping the seating arrangement clean and uncluttered.


    Sometimes two contrasting cushions have more impact than six identical ones.

    Keep the Layout Looking Balanced

    Cushions should enhance the furniture, not hide it.


    Distribute them evenly across the seating and avoid piling them into one corner. A balanced arrangement helps the lounge feel polished while maintaining a relaxed appearance.

    Remember the Purpose of the Event

    The number of cushions should reflect how the space will be used.


    A luxury VIP lounge or hotel-style hospitality area may suit a more decorative approach, while exhibition lounges and networking spaces usually benefit from simpler styling that allows guests to sit down quickly and comfortably.


    The event always comes before the decoration.

    Sometimes Less Really Is More

    The best-styled hospitality spaces rarely feel overdesigned.


    A handful of well-chosen cushions can soften a lounge, introduce colour and improve comfort without overwhelming the furniture. They should feel like part of the overall design rather than the main attraction.


    Guests may not remember the cushions themselves, but they will remember how comfortable the space felt.

    Cushions may seem like a small detail, but they have a surprising influence on the overall atmosphere of an event.


    Choosing the right number, colours and textures helps create hospitality spaces that feel inviting, balanced and comfortable. Sometimes, the finishing touches are the ones that make the biggest difference.
